    Suggestion for the foodplots. Use a rock crusher to grind the stumps and rocks. This will turn the plot into a great fertile field. I'm not sure if you have this type of crusher in your area. Keep up the good work.

      But if I'm on a slope wouldn't the tractor move in neutral? On a hydrostatic I could just lift my foot off the pedal and it wouldn't move. With this one, would I need to brake ?

    I hope everything is going great. I have used a method close to this for years. I cast out the seed into the standing rye and then mow it down. Then in the fall I spread seed and fertilizer if needed into the standing crops and then mow it down over the seed.

  • @user-tk7vx3vu7f
    @user-tk7vx3vu7f 6 місяців тому

    Just a suggestion. why spray the rye when it has already matured / died? You get free rye seed. Glyphosate kills microbiology and wrecks soil health. Since you have sprayer, check with Morgan (Dairy Doo) about using and making compost tea.

    We're considering this tractor for a specific agricultural purpose. Would you have any reservations buying it again and putting several hundred hours a year on it? Thanks!

    • @CompleteDeerTV
      @CompleteDeerTV 7 місяців тому

      I would buy it again! I did have the clutch pack go out at 2100hrs, but apparently, it's rare. However, my mechanic and I disagree. I would buy the 359 next time. All tractors or equipment will have issues or breakdowns, and that's where the dealer comes in. I would do as much research on the dealer as you do on the tractor.

    • @CompleteDeerTV
      @CompleteDeerTV 7 місяців тому

      @farmer479 it kinds was but it shouldn't have been. Reason is my dealer hadn't seen one and yanmar corporate don't see it much. Yanmar Corp wouldn't believe it was the clutch pack until the mechanic got a camera in there and snapped a pic. The ihmt Trans was in great working condition. The small clutch pack not so much. Yanmar corporate blamed me for riding the clutch but I NEVER touch the thing.... you don't have to touch it. Not even sure why there's a pedal there. IMO i think it's what slows down and controls tractor at a crawl. Why are they on there? I don't have an answer yet. I've put 150 hrs since with no troubles. 2500 fix. However now it should be covered under Warranty

    Just got my soil samples back. PH 4.8 calling for 4.6 tons per acre of lime, but recommend to break it down over 2-3 years. Cation exchange capacity is only 3.3. Going to do 1 acre lime per acre, then add fertilizer at planting in the fall, and follow that with liquid fertilizer.

I planted summer plots, and my goal is to improve the soil, raise brix, cation carrying capacity etc. I believe healthier soil, more attractive plants......many of my hunting partners just think if something grows, it is all the same.

    Thankful for the rain we got the past week. We got about 2" over in Osceola county. This is my first year in awhile that I didnt plant a summer soil builder blend. Glad I didnt because of the drought. Between the drought the past few years and lack of time, it has been tough to plant a summer plot. Also feel like I just dont get the full benefit of it due to our short growing season in Michigan. Running a couple experiments this fall to try and make it so that I have stuff growing next summer from this years fall blend. Going to add more clovers, hairy vetch, and chicory. Of course rye comes back the following spring and helps suppress weeds and build OM 👍

    • @CompleteDeerTV
      @CompleteDeerTV Рік тому

      Yes! I do agree and it is a short turn around. Timing for me wasn't ideal but I had to start this program. My fall planting will be later than usual as well with a little different seed blend. Hopefully we are not fertilizing and cultivating soon. Drought tolerant seed worked great i believe and in the next few years see healthier deer.

    • @BigWoods40
      @BigWoods40 Рік тому

      @CompleteDeerTV Glad to see you heading more towards no till. Hard for me since I do not have a no till drill. I have been doing a very light one pass with my disc just to get the seed covered. Still leaves a bunch of thatch to hold moisture. I havent had good luck with just broadcasting on top of my sandy soil. The seed just seems to sit there and bake on top. When are you planning on getting your fall blend in? I think i am going to shoot for early august, depending on rain. Im going to be planting a blend of rye,annual clovers,hairy vetch,radish,turnips, chicory. Cereal rye is probably the only thing that will survive the heavy deer browsing lol

    I havent been impressed with the food plot doo. Have used it for a few years up until last fall. My plots looked way better last year when I only used synthetic fertlizer. Plus the price of the food plot doo is outrageous and costs more then synthetic. Dairy doo recommends to till it in to the soil which I never did because I only do no till. May do half of my plots in food plot doo and the other half in synthetics this year and see which one does better.

      Food plot doo is the pellets correct? Your correct way to expensive to get the numbers correct vs salt based fert. I only use food plot doo pelletized when i absolutely have to and for maintenance. Use super sac is cheaper. I'm using bulk layered ash blend and trying to get more microbes and biology into the soil. Hopefully with the seed mix I'm using I will be able to reduce or eliminate fertilizer all together.

    I think you've over cut .The undergrowth has already gotten to tall for food value for deer.Maybe good cover but if they don't have food they won't stay.Future generations will never get to enjoy a mature forest with the way forestry is going.Just my opinion but it's mine.Leave the maples for maple syrup production. There you have my 2 cents worth which is almost as much as you will get from the rest of those trees.

      Deer numbers in this area are low. Another of neighbors have been cutting aa well. That's why we will keep cutting to always have food and regeneration but also a healthier forest in the long run. It's a balancing act. I'll show a cut where they didn't cut enough with high deer numbers and now we have a problem

    I would guess around eight years old for bucks or does. The oldest bucks that we have shot are in the four and five year age. I’m sure they would have lasted at least three more years.

    Dear nutrition would make a great subject, especially on what to put in your food plots to feed the deer year round. My group planted nearly twice as much as past years, but I think it may have been the wrong type of seeds. I didn’t get turnips planted this year. My mistake.🤦🏻‍♂️

    I have 2 properties TB zone and Cheboygan. I can say we take 5-11 deer off of 60 acres and it’s not enough to make up for neighbors not taking any does. I had 15 does and a buck in my plot at the end of season. The $130 butchering cost will cause more people to not take a doe too. My hunting is good, not complaining, but as a state we do need to fix the harvest ratio and numbers. $5 doe tag $50 buck tag what would that do? Bad idea or easy fix?

    • @CompleteDeerTV
      @CompleteDeerTV Рік тому

      That's great info. No easy fix for sure. There's also discussion to help with processing and donating venison to feed people.

      $150 for butchering slows my ambition to get back in the woods. For the past 10 years, our neighbors and us have decided on eight point or better. Occasionally one of the kids will take something smaller but that’s great for kids. I very much like to listen to your views. 🙏🏻🍀

    Thats fine but i have 260 acres in the upper and are numbers are at historic low, my area the buck numbers at least 2or3 times as many does, and with the wolves and winters being so harsh we haven't shot any does for yrs except for a group that comes from out of state, that won't get on board. the numbers aren't there, Even though we took 3 mature bucks this year, last 2 yrs were the worst i have seen since the 70's also have great habitat and 5 food plots so my opinion for what its worth at this time we have to limit the doe harvest, i have shot my share of does when needed in the 80's, 90's and early 2000's but now is not the time in our area.
